7 Tips for a Successful Telehealth Visit

  • Sit down in a quiet, private place. Not your bed!
Your doctor wants to be able to hear you. Find a place where you can be seated without distractions and hear your doctor. Keep the camera still. Donโ€™t walk around during the visit as itโ€™s disorienting for your doctor. Turn off the TV and radio, find a way to keep your kids and dogs distracted, and make time for yourself.

  • Get dressed.
Our doctors ask that you are fully clothed during the visit. Bathing suits and pajamas are not appropriate. We appreciate your understanding of these boundaries to ensure the most professional interaction with our patients during the telehealth visit.

  • Turn on the lights.
The doctor wants to be able to see your face during the visit. Make sure the lighting is good so our medical provider can see you clearly.

  • Charge your device and check your internet connection.
Prepare your device before your visit. Charge your cell phone, laptop or desktop before your telehealth appointment and be sure you have a reliable internet connection.

  • Grab a notebook and pen.
Before your appointment, write down your questions. During your visit you can write down any recommendations or instructions from your doctor.

  • Write down your symptoms and current medications.
Make a list of all your symptoms and how long you have had them. Prepare a list of medications you are taking and how much and how frequently you take them. This will help you doctor get a better picture of your health profile.

  • Complete all online paperwork before your visit.
Your medical provider will want to review your medical history. Complete all online paperwork and be prepared to present a comprehensive picture of your health including your medical history, pre-existing conditions, and current health status to help your doctor properly evaluate your condition.

We are so happy that you are taking time out to take care for yourself. Following these seven tips for a successful telehealth visit should make it a positive patient experience.
