Jeness Barthel, MD, FACOG

Dr. Jeness Barthel, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with advanced training in both general gynecology and robotic surgery. She earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed her residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she served as Chief Administrative Resident.

Certified in DaVinci® Robotic Surgery, Dr. Barthel is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and an active member of the Illinois State Medical Society.

Dr. Barthel provides comprehensive obstetric care for women throughout pregnancy, from the first prenatal visit through delivery. She is committed to supporting her patients through every stage of pregnancy with compassion, education, and personalized care. Her practice also collaborates closely with a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialist, allowing her team to manage high-risk pregnancies and ensure the safest outcomes for both mother and baby.

With personal experience in infertility—both of her children were conceived through IVF—Dr. Barthel brings deep empathy and understanding to patients navigating their own fertility journeys.

She has performed hundreds of robotic surgeries since 2007, with a special focus on minimally invasive hysterectomy procedures.

Most recently, Dr. Barthel has expanded her focus to caring for women during the perimenopausal and menopausal years. She is passionate about helping women manage this natural transition through education, lifestyle support, and personalized treatment options. Dr. Barthel is a member of The Menopause Society, attended their annual meeting in October 2025, and is on track to become a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner in 2026.

Dr. Barthel sees patients at her Elgin and South Elgin offices and performs deliveries and surgeries at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
